I want to be a beater or a keeper one day, too!" Sooo...what else did she want to know? "So what was it like being famous? Did you get to sign LOADS of autographs?"

But......with her fingers crossed, Janelle waited for a response.

She had no idea when the woman lived, so she didn't know what other forms of flying games or...well, whatever...they had back then. "May I ask when you were born, too?" She decided to take the polite route, because she didn't want to risk making the portrait mad again.
This was just delightful! These students wanted to know all about Quidditch and Artemesia would be happy to tell them! As much as she could remember anyway, or until she got distracted again. “Oh, I was a pretty good player,” she said, trying for modesty as she smiled at the exuberant girl. “I don’t play anymore though…” And neither did her human counterpart, even if she was still alive. Artemesia squinted at the Slytherin girl a bit, wondering if she resembled her archenemy at all. “Well...” she finally started after a dramatic pause. “If you do become a beater, don’t try too hard to hit the other team – especially the seeker, and especially in the head!”

She was starting to get a bit emotional, so she took a deep breath (or a portrait’s equivalent) to calm herself down. Oh, her came a handsome young man to greet her as well. She smiled at him though that fade a bit at his question. “I AM still alive,” she huffed. Why did everyone think she was dead? “But I used to play Quidditch,” she added to answer his question.”Oh I grew up just outside Sheffield.” It was a delightful place to live… er, was it? She couldn’t quite remember now. Her mind seemed to wander off a bit, but then looked at the girls again as they asked a few more questions. “Oh, um.. well I suppose my father taught me the rules of the game, but I really learned when I came to Hogwarts and played…. No, just Quidditch,” she shook her head at the next question. She couldn’t be as good as she was if her focus was too divided. “My birthday is February 27th…. 2043.”

Was it just Hogwarts or University as well?

"So, magical portraits could portray dead people, obviously, so that means in a sense once you die, your portrait is kind of like a ghost, where you live on in infamy, yes?" It wasn't really a question about Flume's life, but about portraits themselves. She was curious on how they worked. Besides, her fellow classmates were doing well in asking about his life.
Weren’t these young ladies simply lovely? Augustus smiled broadly at them as they seemed so interested in his life and his potions. And he was very proud of his work! “I was schooled here at Hogwarts, of course, but then after school I went to study as an apprentice under the tutelage of a great potions master.” That had been a very long time ago before many people went to a higher education like a University. In fact, he could not relate much to that idea at all.

Augustus shook his head at Kitty’s question. “Augustus Flume was a lifelong bachelor. Very dedicated to his work.” That didn’t mean he didn’t have any romantic pursuits, they were just few and far between and he just didn’t find the time to settle down. He looked next at the older girl posing a question about portraits in general. “Hmm, I suppose you could put it that way. Magical portraits live on for a long time, though they are more a shadow of a person rather than a replication.” Did that make sense? Augustus wasn’t completely sure it made sense to him as he did not study magical portraiture at any length.

It still seemed doubtful that Ms. Bulstrode would know Ethan Truebridge, but he was awfully proud of his dad so he mentioned him to her anyway.
"You can't just ask people that," he corrected him, barely suppressing another smile. The professor had just taken away points from Dante, though, so Davie didn't say anything else. Also, Davie didn't yet notice that he'd smacked Dante with his ink-covered notes hand, so he went on to ask the portrait another question. Since they were on the topic of families... "Are you a pureblood, ma'am? Do you come from a talented family?"

What's your favorite piece of music to perform? What's your favorite that you've written?"

"So your favorite instrument is the harp -- the upright thing that you pluck the strings with right? Not the little piano lookie-likey thing? Because that’s the harpsichord." He had to ask, because her question got him to pause and think, she's comparing the harp and the piano? But he knew what they were, the advantage perhaps when you have a father named Stradivarius. "Well a piano and a harp creates sound when their tightly wound strings are pulled or struck. Plus they both have pedals."

Letting out a slow breath she ran a hand through her hair to get her focus back. "Madame Bullstrode, who painted this wonderful portrait of you and when did you have it painted?" Yes, yes very good question Hadleigh, commenting on the lovelyness of her portrait. Smart move there.

Violetta was still in a bit of a huff even after that dreadful boy left her sight. Perhaps she should just leave her frame and let these children fend for themselves. But there were true fans here and she didn’t want to just leave them hanging. Could they see how terribly gracious she was being in the face of such insult? It took a moment for her to calm down, but she soon acknowledged the imminent questions, especially since she could sense the talent of a select few of them.

“Why yes, I am a pureblood,” she told the boy whose father was much too young to have attended school alongside her. “I was the only one in my family with such true and pure talent so of course I was allotted the best of educations.” It was fortunate for her though. She looked to the mannerly Charlotte next. “The one that I mentioned, Who Cast the Spell on Music? is of course my favorite. It was quite the accomplishment. I wrote the piece for all the instruments and charmed them all to play myself while I sang. As for other pieces I like to play.. “ Or at least what her human counterpart liked to play. She looked to one of the girls who asked that question. “I prefer the musical arrangements of the wizarding composer, Aldred Cantus.”

The questions were starting to become tedious. When was this class over because she was tired of this and would rather do something else now. “Yes, the harp, not the harpsichord.” Of course she knew what it looked like, for Merlin’s sake! “Very good. And they are both unbowed stringed instruments.” Apparently the other young man came in to the group late as she had already answered this question much, much earlier. “I did not attend Hogwarts. As a matter of fact, I attended the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts.” A much better school in her opinion. “My artist’s name is Benjamin Coombs and I’ve hung in his studio several decades.” Time meant very little to portraits, or at least this one, and she couldn’t be bothered with the exact number of years. “I suppose the hardest thing is having a private life..” And answering incessant questions about her life.

But this was what they were doing in class, and it was the next logical thing to ask. So.

If so, the word was awfully misleading in all its fanciness.

"Right...no candy then--that's okay, mum says it rots your teeth if you have too many. Although...if you did ruin your teeth, couldn't they just paint you with really good looking ones?" A curious thought now that he happened upon it. "In fact, how do we know you really look like this and didn't ask them to paint you nicer? Did you like clothes like the one you're wearing now? I mean I could paint new ones on you if you held still."
More questions. Lucian sighed. Sure, he wouldn’t mind talking about his accomplishments, but one small lad seemed to be stuck on the topic of sweets, something he could not care less about. “I suppose that is up to the artist, or at least the skill level of the artist. I am not that vain, why would I care about what my teeth looked like?” He squinted at the boy. “You most certainly will not!” He snuck a peek at their teacher. He wouldn’t let children try to paint over him, would he? He suppose he could just leave the frame if anyone tried, but the damage they could do to his background!

“Defense Against the Dark Arts was my favorite, something that came in handy when I was fighting in the Great Goblin Rebellion.” Did that answer several questions at once? He was always efficient. “And because of that battle, wand legislation had to be written and revised.” That was important whether or not these children saw it that way, which he doubted given the silly questions they’ve asked.

He thought about it and heard the other's asking questions. He didn't wanna repeat any of it. He missed his chance to ask his question when Elliot was talking again. He snorted when Colt assumed he was a goody two shoes. He rolled his eyes and now he was getting a history lesson. Yawwwnnn but then again that was the point of this lesson.

He was learning a lot about him. Apparently he was the youngest on the council. "Was any of your family members on the International Confederation of Wizards? How did you know about it being so young is what I am getting at.." Let's see him answer this one.

"Do you have the memories of Elliot Kegworth? Do you feel like you are him and he is you? Were you painted from memory after his death, or were you just told one day that "you" had died?" So many questions! How was he supposed to narrow that down to a short conversation? It couldn't be done! COULDN'T BE DONE, I TELL YOU!

How did he know about the International Confedaration? Er.. he wasn’t a child when he had a seat there, he was one of the youngest but that was because most people were just older than him. “I probably first earned about it at school, but some employees at the Ministry worked with them as well. And no, none of my family members ever held a seat there.” And since they were on the subject of the Ministry. “I was the Junior Undersecretary for a time.” He chuckled at the young girl who thought she might get in trouble. “Don’t worry, you’re secret is safe with me.. When I was at school, teachers were much stricter and studying was very important. Of course, there was always fun to be had though. Sometimes we would have grand balls.” But he was always too shy to ask the girl he liked to go with him.

He looked at the younger girl who asked about the regulations he created and knitted his eyebrows together. Hadn’t he already said? But he was kind and patient, and he simply smiled at her. “Just like your fellow classmate guessed, I helped to create the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. It was very necessary at the time.” And speaking of that certain classmate, Elliot had to think a moment about her question. “Perhaps I would teach History of Magic. I’ve always enjoyed trying to understand people throughout history and why they’ve made the decisions they did. Or maybe something with Charms..”

My, oh my. The young Ravenclaw was so inquisitive, wasn’t he? Elliot could certainly appreciate that. “I’m.. not sure if I can answer all of your questions with accuracy. I’m not a portrait painter, and I don’t have a complete understanding of how it all works. But I’m like a faint version of Elliot Kegworth. I have some of his memories and many of his mannerisms, but I’m not truly him. I was created through magic.” He wasn’t sure that was a sufficient answer, but it was probably the best he could do. “I was painted before he died, but I am sure he’s long gone by now…” He was never personally told, and he never cared to ask.
