I like it…what do you like being called though?” She asked because really if she liked being called Ilia she’d call her that.

“I mean if you like being called Ilia I’ll call you that…even if Freya’s awesome being a Norse goddess and everything” she grinned because really runes and runic lore were something she had always been interested in.

When Professor Finch began explaining their activity Mel just grinned. This sounded awesome – really talking to portraits. So great. Hopefully no one was boooooooooring. Zeke’s suggestion really did sound great though.

“Yeah that sounds good to me…do you guys want to do even less work and tackle the guy that’s not in his portrait?” She asked looking at the surprisingly empty portrait.

Well at least Mel was up for it... the group thing. Making faster work of things was totally something he was up for. Sharing was caring, and whatever... mmhmm.

As for tackling the guy not in his portrait, "somehow I don't think we'd get away with interviewing an empty portrait..." one could hope though.

SPOILER!!: Dante

Well Dante liked the name Violetta Bulstrode best. He wanted to ask if her parents hated her when they named her.

"How about we all ask one portrait questions. So that would be four questions plus just one more from any of us. I like the name Violetta Bulstrode the best so that is my vote."

Dante said shrugging. That was his say. If they decided on something different. He would go along.

He did not care.

It was a plan. Officially. Minimal effort and maximum outcome... "I'm cool with Bullstrode," he confirmed with a slight shoulder shrug. He didn't think it really mattered either way.

It was interesting how they all had different experiences, but not too surprising. Just like people, they all had different personalities and it was probably something they'd find out today if they hadn't known already. Perhaps he should have warned about some of the specific personalities, but it was more fun watching his students figure that out for themselves.

Was Hadleigh discouraged with his answer? Ansley gave her a reassuring smile and shook his head. "I certainly didn't say you wouldn't be able to, but it does take some training and a lot of practice. Are you up for the challenge? Maybe you'd like to learn." And he would actually be happy to have a little apprentice if she were interested.

He slowly wandered about the room, observing how the students interacted with the portraits. Whoops. Violetta was set off already. He was half-tempted not to bring her today, but being on loan from one of his painting friends, he felt she could be a good addition. "Violetta is a tough nut to crack," he told Hadley with a sympathetic smile, though he was always amused with her attitude. "She just needs her ego catered to." The Ravenclaw could try that or she could talk to a different portrait, didn't matter to him.

He happened to hear a couple of students (Mel and Dante) at the same table commenting on how to do even less work. Yeah, no. "Everyone does the same amount of work, in a group or not. The activity is five questions per person, not per group." Laziness certainly wasn't the way to get on this professor's good side and all it really did was keep them in his mind to keep an eye on them. But that reminded him that it was probably a good time to let them know what their actual assignment was so that they all chose their questions wisely.

"Listen up real quick, class," he called out, wanting all of their attention for a moment. "Keep up with the interviewing of the portraits, you're all doing a great job.." At least those that have started anyway. "Remember to ask at least five question for the portrait of your choice. Once you feel like you know a little bit about that person's life and contribution to history, I want you to write a paragraph or two for me to grade, but you will also present this to the class." He did not expect them to interview each of the portraits, so this would be one way for the rest of the students to learn about the others. And it would help assess how well they participated along with what they learned from one portrait or another.

"If you are working in a group, only one of you need to present, but you all will need to hand in your own work, in your own words." None of that all handing in the exact same essay. "And even if you are not currently working in a group, you might want to at least compare notes when finished to help fill in any blanks." But that was up to them.

OOC - Keep working everyone, you are all doing great! I'm not trying to rush anyone, you still have plenty of time to ask the portraits questions! I just wanted to let you know what you will be doing once questions have been asked just in case that guided how your character asked them. As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask via VM/PM/Twitter/Skype.

.... and Finch was being a party pooper again. The dude really wasn't inspiring, was he?

Not only was this bogus, but they EACH had to ask 5 questions? In a group that was harder. There were four of them, which meant they needed 20 questions - and naturally that was more difficult to think of than 5. Would they get extra credit? He doubted it somehow. Lame.

SPOILER!!: Ilia

It was no large amount, nothing that would influence her house winning the cup or anything....heck she had lost that many trying to help with the snake table at the feast. Poor Dante, seriously.....Merlin that was awful. Point being though, it wasn't the amount of points lost that added sunshine to her disposition. No, it was really just a person she didn't much like right now getting reprimanded for his behavior. A sense of smugness at what she felt to be due justice really.

She wasn't surprised that he ignored her comment, but she was certain that he'd heard her. That was enough.

As for his suggestion though. "I'm certain that is the first intelligent sentence that I have heard out of your mouth lion boy. I'm for it as well, it only makes sense really." She didn't like him one little bit right now, but, his 'help' should make this whole thing easier.

She seemed to like the idea of an incendiary moniker. "Burn it is then. Until you tire of it at least." She laughed a little when she said it. Honestly it was almost....sort of...cute? She seemed like she would be a bubbly little spit fire so why not? That sort of personality appealed to the blonde in general.

Hmm, she liked her first name AND knew what it was. Interesting. She probably liked ancient runes or something along those lines. Whatever she liked, and yet, the girl seemed predisposed to her first name. It was either way really, they were both her name. "Well, they are both my name, just different parts. My first name Freyja is indeed for the goddess, Ilia is my middle name. Either that you prefer is fine really, even some of my family uses them interchangeably." She smiled warmly at the younger girl to confirm that she really meant her words.

She was for it too, good. That was three people. The portrait that was out for a waltz? "I would think if he were out, it would make it harder for us, not simpler." They were going to have to ask questions regardless. 5....well....there it was.

Dante seemed to have an idea, but then the professor clarified. Well, it was a nice try sir. She couldn't blame him for the thought. "Well, with greater insight into our assignment, twenty questions will be easier to derive a good essay than five. I am still for a group discussion and I am fine with speaking to Lady Bulstrode. She is in her portrait so, that may at least make it easier. But, whatever the greatest amount of votes. Any of them will work honestly." She didn't care who, lets just get this done guys. "Who do we chose, and who shall start?" Did they have an idea and accord? She would help the process however she could.

Wow. A compliment. Zeke would have been flattered if he had cared, but as it so happened his caring factor was on '0' where crazy girl was concerned. If she stayed out of his way, he'd offer her the same courtesy. Somehow, so far, they'd managed to be seated at the same table without much difficulty. "How kind of you to say," he'd drawled in reply. Super.

And what was that rubbish about it being greater insight? Easier to write an essay? That was.... so dumb. He could write a perfectly sound essay with 3 questions, really. Ugh.

"Well no point sitting around, let's get this started," he mused, taking a spare parchment and his quill with him. Note taking, it was a thing.

Approaching the Bullstrode portrait, Zeke got the party rolling with what he figured whas the most basic of questions. "Ms Bullstrode? May I ask about your early life? When and where were you born?"

Yes. That. First question, the very beginning... it was only logical.
