He needed to practice with real people if he was ever going to learn to defend himself in the real world, after all. Also, the new dummies were downright creepy. Thankfully, a little voice caught his ear, and he trotted over to his friend Ariadne, picking up some silly gear along the way.
"Hey Ariadne," he greeted the Greingoth gleefully. "Wanna work together?"
Ariadne wasn't one to let others get her down too much, but EVERYBODY and their brother and sister had either decided to work with the dummies, or they had already chosen other partners. Nobody had taken her up on her offer. UNTIL NOW! Ariadne beamed brightly when Davie approached her about teaming up.
"Of course I do!" she said. She'd only talked to her new friend once since getting to Hogwarts, and even then it was the middle of an activity. Pairing up to duel one another was at least another chance to hang out! She really needed to start meeting up with friends OUTSIDE of class, too.
She glanced at all the gear the professor had given them and gestured to her own get-up.
"Do you think I have this on the right way?" she asked. The whole thing seemed kind of Muggle-ish to her, and that was something she was SUPER unfamiliar with. She'd done a pretty good job, although the shin pads were a little high.
"So how do you want to do this?" she asked him.
"Do you want me to step back, and then you can try a pretend sneak attack?" Hopefully it would be PRETEND. Ariadne was still kind of doubting her abilities, and dueling against a second year probably put her in a vulnerable spot.
