Hogwarts RPG Name: TBD Gryffindor Hogwarts RPG Name: Zara H. Bunbury-Foster Slytherin Fifth Year | Mentions Haddie too... Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB Wow, mentioning the dodo and comparing it to him? Haddie really didn't know anything, did she. If she DID know things, especially things about MAGIC, then she'd be aware that what Muggles called the 'dodo' was actually a magical bird called the Diricawl. So who was the stupid one now? The girl who STILL didn't know anything about magic, or the one who knew enough to sit there and feel smug about how stupid that insult had been?
But David wasn't going to acknowledge her ignorance right now. The professor was talking, and this subject was easily one of his best. In fact, his father had taught this subject, so Haddie could just... could just.... actually, okay, David DID need to acknowledge her. Her beef with him was one thing, but bringing the others into it? That was a no no. And he knew that the longer he sat here and let her think she was right, the more this dumb slight was going to bother him.
So as the professor introduced himself (and David was listening, he was), the second-year casually pushed his parchment over to where she could see it: Quote:
The dodo is only extinct to ignorant Muggles like yourself.
Now then, the professor had asked a question about encountering magical portraits, and Davie certainly had a lot to say about those, having been around them his entire life. Plus he had correctly guessed the topic of today's lesson, and he liked feeling smug about that. The first portrait encounter to pop to mind, however, was from the end of his first year here. "Last year, I cast obscuro, the blindfolding spell, on about three of the portaits in the Headmaster's office," he admitted fearlessly. Who was the dodo now, huh Haddie? Had she even heard of that spell? No doubt she was not devoted enough to learn it as a mere firstie, as he had done.
Davie glanced over at his BFF Char and grinned, adding, "One of those portraits was my mum's. Headmistress Anastasia Truebridge. She can be kind of... intense, so the blindfold was for her portrait's protection." And his. And their combined sanity and safety. "The others I blindfolded were the portraits of Hogwarts Governor Cassandra Rae and former Headmaster Tate. None of them really said anything other than small exclamations of surprise, but that was because the blindfolds worked perfectly well. No paint was hurt in the blindfolding or anything." At least, they'd all looked fine on his visit there at the start of term. So what was the harm in admitting this now? Nothing. It was surely too late to throw Davie into detention for the small sneaking-in of Botros' office...
But uh, none of the portraits Professor Finch had brought were from Moxley's office, were they? Somebody please tell him they were home-painted portraits and not Hogwarts ones.... please.... please don't be mum's portrait....
