Professor Flamsteed returned her greeting and at least to her, didn’t seem bothered by her less than stellar attempt at his desired ‘salute’. Maybe he was being nice and figuring he couldn’t expect perfection on the first try. Olivia would be making a note to practice it and improve so she could show him in a later class. But for now, she was getting ready for when the class was to begin in earnest while the man made his way around the other students.
When the door was closed, her attention was back on the professor. Time to begin and when Flamsteed spoke and confirmed it, her full attention was with him. Astronomy….NOT astrology. Got it. And she was already aware of the man’s name. Now for the questions posed to them, she thought for a few moments before raising her hand to answer.
“I think we study the heavens, and its a required class, for the same reason we study history. So that we can try to understand what came before in hopes that it would help as know about and possibly understand today.” Grandfather Nairne would likely agree, the man having shown her an appreciation for history at least.
