Somehow he had taken for granted the art of whistling, assuming that everyone was capable of it. So when Maggie shook her head, he was curious. He'd have to do it for her? "I can manage that," he agreed, giving her a low wolf-whistle to demonstrate his skills. She had a great boyfriend, so accommodating and skilful he was.
He didn't need her prompting, but extended his hand to take hers when it was offered... only... it was taken back, and for a moment he was perplexed.
...
And then it made sense.
Gloves. Right. "Let's do it," he beamed, stepping away from the trapdoor to the wall. The shoes. The shoes felt weird.
One hand on the wall, Zeke tested the grip. It WAS sticky. Like, sticky sticky. Next he placed his foot against the wall on an angle, and the next, and with his last hand meeting the surface he started the pull himself up. One step after the other. He peered over to Maggie, making sure she was alright and managing. Zeke pls.
Maggie rolled her eyes but giggled when he showed her his whistling skills. "I'm glad I'm letting you stick around." Heh. She poked his chest softly, before walking past him with a smirk. If only she was wearing proper shoes. Like, it would have looked a lot cooler then. As it were though she still tried to look as graceful as possible. Totally working mhm.
If you were into slow-motion walking.
She, too, placed her gloved palm against the wall, then quickly let her second hand follow. Weird. Very weird. What was even weirder was when she added her feet. Like. The metaphor of being a fly on the wall appealed to her occasionally but this was like the real thing. And nope, she did NOT like this fly thing. Which was clearly written all over her face when Zeke turned around.
Meh.
Following him up the wall, though, Maggie kept thinking over the logistics of this exercise. Like. If she had to hold that box with two hands how was she supposed to climb back down. So it would have to be one hand. Even CATCHING it with one hand because otherwise she'd be hanging upside down from the ceiling. And once again...she was wearing a skirt.
Stupid task this was. |
