A disembodied voice in a strangely furnished room was not at the top of the list of things Lex would have expected on his first day of class. Nonetheless, he took his wand in hand and approached a cabinet. He pointed it at the lock and took a breath.
"Aloha-mora." The wand merely let out a flowery, pink spark. He frowned, slowly working out the incantation in a whisper. After a few moments of this, he pointed his wand again.
"Alohomora." There was a small flash, and the lock clicked. Lex smiled and pulled the cabinet door open, reaching for the box inside. He repeated the spell on the box, opening the lid and reading the numbers inside. He grinned confidently and shut the box.
"Colliportus!" Nothing happened. Lex frowned.
"Colliportus!" Still nothing.
Lex groaned and sank to the floor, holding the box in his lap, repeating the spell without effect. He eventually stopped, sitting still with his back to the cabinet, wiping a frustrated tear from his cheek. |
