"Alahamora!"
Was it her imagination or did it jiggle a bit? But...still locked. SHe looked nervously at the boy next to her.
"Do you know...how to do, um, well, any of this? I'm lost"
Huh what? Jaemin skittered sideways half a step at the voice, blinking in surprise. When had she appeared?! He really needed to pay more attention to those around him...

"...I'm eleven." He stated this as if it should somehow be taken as the appropriate answer to her question; he was eleven, and therefore this was his first class. He had absolutely no idea what he was doing, no. Jaemin shuffled closer to a few of the older students as they worked, leaning in a bit when he spotted the girl prefect from his own house so he could watch her do the thing.

The spells kept getting yelled around him as students worked on their own cabinets, and Jay felt his ears go red when he realised why his hadn't listened to him about opening. He was saying the thing wrong Merlin this was so embarrassing!!!! He silently scooted himself back over to his own cabinet and looked at the girl again.

"I don't think I said it quite right the first time..." The boy squeezed his wand in his tiny fist and stared stalwartly at the cabinet again. "Alohomora... Aaaaaloooooohoooooomoooooorrrrrraaaaaaa...."

He tested the spell out a few more times, mouth carefully forming it as closely as possible to those around him; when he'd settled into it a bit, and felt more at ease with how it was said, he pointed his wand at the cabinet. This time for sure. It had to work. Otherwise they'd probably put him back in the boats and send him across the lake to the train again, and he really wanted to check out the greenhouses before it came to that.

With a swish and a flick, the boy tried his best to enunciate...

"Alohomora."

...and after a very loooooooong moment, the door made an unlocking clicky sound. If he could have, he probably would have hugged it. Instead, he hugged the stranger girl next to him. "I did it!"
