A girls (Haddie) voice had broken Jasper's concentration, though he was glad that he looked up, given that the girl in question had thrown a pear in his direction. Dropping his sketchbook, he managed to catch the pear, glad that he hadn't dropped it.

It would've been both embarrassing, and quite possibly a waste of a good pear.

"Oh... uh... thanks," despite the hesitation in his words, he grinned at the compliment, excited and glad that someone other than his family thought he was good at drawing!

Because family was required to compliment him. His eyes turned to the boy (Davie)who he hadn't noticed before the girl introduced them.

"No we haven't met," he answered, his voice a bit more confident. At that point he realised he still hadn't introduced himself. "I'm Jasper, nice to meet you both."
