Luckily for Zeke (and herself), however, the Gryffindor DID stop.
Maggie, too, stopped a few meters away from him when he turned around to look at her. Oh. Err. Yes. Maybe she should have, like, thought of something to say instead of just blindly running after him. For a few seconds she just stared right back at him before realizing that she was still holding her wand.
Ah. That. She should probably put that back in her holster. "Don't go." Even if it was just for tonight. Like, he wasn't leaving for good or anything. Still. "I'm sorry." She'd already said that, yes, but she felt like it needed repeating. With a pleading look on her face Maggie took a step closer. "I didn't want to upset you." Sorry. Again. ... or not.
At first he thought Maggie might not say anything, and while that was enough to make him want to cringe, he had a very different response. Seeing her wand in hand, he couldn't help but smirk a little though he tried to hide this by averting his gaze to his feet. Shoes were fascinating things.
After a moment in which time Maggie secured her weapon, Zeke peered back up with a neutral expression - or at least that had been his intention until she spoke. Hearing her say 'don't go' was enough to ease some of the hurt he felt, though it was a far cry from making things all 'okay' again.
He held his tongue for the moment, watching as she took a step nearer and he too took a step to meet her. She could apologise all she wanted, but at the end of the day, he didn't understand what she was thinking and why she had behaved the way she did. All things considered, he did actually accept her apology about not meaning to hurt him, because he supposed that was what just happened and it sucked.
Unable to resist, Zeke cleared the last of the distance between them and pulled her into hug, resting his lips against her forehead. It was a selfish act, wanting her contact, and so he took it.
