The old woman was cackling in Dot's personal space, and it was NOT okay, plus she was saying impossible things. Stupid impossible things. "No one admires my aura, and I've never had boy troubles a day in my life, but it's very nice of you to say so." Also nice that Dot was starting to breathe normally again.
And apparently the woman didn't need help to the dais, and Dot watched her totter off. The whole school sick? Impossible. They had their own healer and everything.
Now that the woman was gone, Dot was able to move to the side to let Daxton pass her into the Great Hall. If he was hungry... which surely he was. Growing boys and all that. In spite of the fact that the woman presented no danger, she really couldn't blame him for shirking away from her like that. She was... terrifying, in her own way, and Daxton could only express that physically.
He offered a note, and Dot glanced down at his writing. Not... very nice, kid. It wasn't someone's fault if they looked like they'd taken a running start at the ugly tree, and they ought to have compassion for her. Imagine living your whole life looking like that and being all sorts of kooky in the personality department? She was bound to have lived a difficult life.
"She's just a person. A talking, thinking person. Unless." She worried her lip for a moment. "You think she's a hag? Or do they prefer 'crone'? They eat children. Surely she wouldn't come to a school and try to eat children." But Moxley had her now, and Dot trusted Moxley absolutely. "See you around, Blue Eyes. Keep your chin up, okay?"
She gave the firstie ickle another grin as she headed for the Sorting Hat. "Good luck!" And now she'd better get back to the table.
