For someone who often insisted he did not need anyone's help, Daxton was actually a frequent practitioner of the human shield. Hiding behind one, that was, not acting as one. He did not complain when Dot took up the role, and in fact Daxton absolutely stepped directly behind her without hesitation. He kept his robes gathered up and pressed over the lower half of his face, and watched the hag over Dot's shoulder.

It was really quite an awful thing, and Daxton felt much better knowing there was someone stood in between him and it. Ugly thing it was too - it looked almost as bad as it smelled.

Daxton could not quite make out the discourse between Dot and the putrid smelling hag, but he did not want to risk uncovering his nose simply to remove his earmuffs. But... then it was looking at him again, and Daxton felt every level of discomfort it was likely possible to feel. He forced a half-hidden scowl back at it, then watched it go into the Hall. Well... at least now the staff would be forced to deal with it, and the air here - though the odour lingered - might soon become breathable. As far as he could tell, Dot had not dropped dead, so the perfume may well not have been poisonous.

Unless it was slow-acting, to decrease suspicion.

For now, Daxton watched the hag's retreating back, then sent a side glance towards Dot. After a moment's consideration, he retrieved his notebook from his robes pocket, and quickly (but with some difficulty, as he was still trying to keep his mouth and nose covered) wrote out a message for her to read. Before she could leave, he tapped her on the shoulder with said notebook, and held it so that his message could be read.

'I think it is supposed to live in the creatures stables. Someone should take it there before it infests the rest of the castle.'

Someone that was not him, because as it turned out, Daxton could not be near a being such as that without the urge to give it a good kick.
