Mariel was aware that there was a gift shop in the Ministry located in the Atrium, she just never had need to go there. She wasn't really one to buy merchandise with the Ministry logo on them as gifts for friends or family. In fact, she paid little attention to the gift shop at all, merely knowing of its existence, any time she walked through the Atrium and today would have been no different if she hadn't heard a baby's cries.
The crying sounded rather familiar, a mother knowing the sounds of her own children, but surely it couldn't be? She knew her children were safely tucked away in the daycare for the day, though maybe they were taken out for a walk or the sound had echoed in a strange way to make it sound like it was coming from another area. Still, she veered her path towards the gift shop to see what was going on.
The cries grew louder as she neared and her eyes searched the area until they landed on her young son. "Alejandro!" she cried out, rushing towards him and scooping him up in her arms. "What on earth are you doing out here?" Her eyes snapped to the man standing near him. "What's going on here?" Who was he and why was he out in the gift shop with her child? Phew.. someone was going to need a diaper change, but first she needed some answers and make sure her baby was safe.
