Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent Esme continued her jog down the far end of the pitch, keeping her same pace, not even glancing at Rebecca as the other woman caught up to her. Until she heard her words. That had taken her slightly off-guard. She was certain that Rebecca didn't know of her plans, which really were not set in stone. Not until she had a positive test result anyway. Until then, she had planned to keep playing. But her manager's words held a certain tone. Almost as if she was toying with her, which would not surprise Esme in the slightest. "Going great, actually," she managed, her breathing coming heavier now and talking not as easy. "Top of my game." And she knew that she was, which made her thoughts even more difficult, but it was what she wanted.. or at least she thought. She wavered at times.
Esme jogged in silence a moment, rounding the end of the pitch and slowing a bit as she saw three figures down at the other end. She'd have thought nothing of it had it been during the season as she would have figured them to be teammates, but what were the chances of half the team showing up during the off-season? Slim to none. Besides, as she got closer she could tell that they weren't as recognizable as that even if they were still at a distance. "Friends of yours?" She glanced at Rebecca.
