Taking a deep breath for good luck, Nate pushed the door open and stepped into the narrow shop. His eyes doubled in size at the sight of the towering shelves that lined the walls, each crammed with hundreds and hundreds of boxes.
The wand chooses the wizard that best matches its character, he remembered reading it somewhere, but how was he going to find THE wand among all of those??
He had barely had time to begin worrying when a rather fidgety measuring tape came wiggling through the air in his direction.
"Err... hi? I'm here to buy my first wand," Nate told it a little hesitantly while it measured his height. It paid no attention to his words, however, and proceeded to snap impatiently near his arms. He held them up and apart for more measuring and glanced over his shoulder.
Beyond the window, in the cobblestone street, his uncle Bertie chatted happily with a friend. He had instructed Nate to go ahead and promised they'd meet in a minute, which probably meant he would have time to buy everything on his supply list and still find the adults on the same spot. Oh, well.
