She still felt like most of the new rules this term were stupid, but Brooklyn was at least prepared by now. Not for the sparkly heart that had brushed past her braided hair as she’d passed beneath it to get inside the Potions classroom, but she was prepared for the rest. Aside from the fact Professor Culloden wasn’t visible in the classroom. She’d been tempted to check and make sure he wasn’t just hiding. She resisted that, though, instead dropping the couple of sugar quills and lemon drops she’d taken from her candy stash onto the professor’s desk along with whatever the few others who had arrived had left there.

Once that was taken care of, she went over to her usual seat. Zeke had gotten a nod of acknowledgement, but aside from that she’d pretty much just taken her seat without notice of the others. As far as she was concerned, she didn’t have to. That note about bringing love didn’t mean she had to pretend to like everyone.
