Davie's legs were suddenly doing a dance all on their own. While he was busy with his internal dialogue, Ava had shaken her water off and cast that tap-dancing spell at him! Davie wasn't confident in using that one, but as his legs did a jelly-dance on their own, he did let out a little laugh. And then he confidently shot a spell right back at her.

"EXPELLIARMUS!"

He had no time to waste fixing his legs! He could do that after he disarmed her. And so, hoping that Ava's wand would coming flying over to him, David quickly tapped his legs with his own wand, murmuring, "Finite," while he was at it.
