Taking off her shoes? That's better. Ava didn't want to hurt the Head Girl's shoulder. She took off her shoes and socks too (because it's a bit slippery when she's putting on her socks). And then... what's next? "Well, I don't think I have any other better ideas and uh...." Thinking. "I think it's easier if I climb on a desk first, then stand at your shoulder." Yep, that sounded like a good plan. Ava then went to the nearest desk and climbed on it. Now, it's the moment of truth. "You ready, Sophie?" She asked. And once the Head Girl was ready, she put on her left foot first on her shoulder, and then the right one. Wobble wobble wobble...
Woah, it's harder to stand perfectly balanced at someone's shoulder than it looked. Relieved that Ava didn't mind complying to her wishes regarding the shoes, Soph got poised in position for Ava to climb upon her shoulders. She braced herself the moment Ava started her descent up onto the desk and may have actually closed her eyes as she replied, "Uh huh," her shoulders stiffening in anticipation--
...You know, it actually wasn't THAT bad. Sure, Soph grunted a little the moment the second foot joined and Ava's entire weight was now bearing down upon her, but all things considering, she didn't feel like she was going to DIE, at least. The weight distribution was pretty even, just as long as Ava didn't lean more to one side than the other, and sloooooowly but surely, Soph started to straighten out her back, slooooooooooowly raising Ava higher into the air, her hands still extended upward for Ava to hold for support.
"Is this okay? Y'doin' okay up there? M'gonna... start to go... reeeeeally, really slowly... if y'need me to stop so y'can catch your balance before you'll fall, just lemme know and I'll stop right away." Soph would also probably FEEL if Ava was starting to topple over, so... "I'll just go slow 'n steady. Very smoooothly..."
And so they went, with each and every one of Soph's steps very slow, careful, deliberate, and smooth as to not jostle Ava and throw off her balance. Luckily, Soph had pretty good balance herself AND good control of her body, so... there was no clumsy sort of nonsense happening here. No, this was good. Hopefully a niiiiice smooth ride for Ava.
Oh... and... "Err, I've got the last... eh, ten or so Headmasters and Headmistresses memorized, 'n I've had... three History of Magic professors, 'n... I know of two others for sure, so I've got our... names... in the bag... unless y'wanna... list off some... that you know?" If Ava knew some and wanted to contribute? "But if not, don't worry. Y'just... make sure you're... okay up there..."
Merlin. Walking, talking, and balancing a kid up on her shoulders was NOT AS EASY AS IT LOOKED.
