He’d positioned her nearly perfectly to reach the first basket, and all she’d had left to do once she’d named off professors was wait. Wait to see if he could name headmasters. Well, that and glare down at the top of his perfect blonde head when she’d heard the snort coming from him. She’d just see if he could do better once it was his turn to name professors.
She’d made a soft sound as he’d complimented her, too, back to looking at the basket. Of course she’d done her part. He shouldn’t have doubted that, no matter how she did it. She was a Slytherin after all. She knew how to work her way around the rules, or how to get others to do most of the work for her. She’d reached up to grab a candy bag from the basket once he’d finished off his list, too.
Of course he’d had to name off the obvious ones. But then, they’d had at least a couple people choose to dress as Dumbledore for this lesson, along with at least one McGonagall. At least she thought so. Easy. But then it left her with the less obvious heads, once they’d made their way over to the second basket. She doubted the explanations for how they thought of their names really was important either. Show off.
She waited for him to stop moving before she started talking again, though. It gave her time to use his logic against him and think of if she remembered any other headmasters from when her family had been there. Ha. She had one. Of course, she’d heard others mention them too, but that didn’t matter. “Tate.”
But she needed four more, and that meant thought. And work, ew. “…Phineas Nigellus Black. Dilys Derwent…Armando Dippet and Dexter Fortescue.” That was four more. Which meant she was done, aside from collecting another bag of candy. She needed him to list five more professors before that could happen though. Now things were starting to heat up. His shoulders were aching in pain and he now had to concentrate on getting them to the next basket and listing former history professors. Frankie was disappointed that he didn't list the professors first. It would have been way easier. But, never fear, this Gryffindor had excellent hearing and was ready to listen in on the things his peers were saying travel into the depths of his mind for some former professor names. Because they were totally wandering around in that noggin of his.
Arriving at the second and last candy basket was a priority though. This time, however, Frankie moved at a much faster pace than he did with the first basket. Hopefully Brooklyn was prepared for that because Frankie did so without warning. But she luckily managed to stay on, which he was rather impressed by. Not that he was going to admit that out loud or anything. Brooklyn Andrews was the last person on earth he would give really nice compliments to. It wasn't like they were friends or anything. Just mere acquaintances getting candy baskets.
"The last basket. Thank Merlin," the blond-haired boy said, letting out a heavy sigh. He hoped he didn't sound out of breath and that Brooklyn didn't notice that his shoulders began to shake slightly. His brain told him to just give up and take the one basket they had, but determination was surprisingly written all over Frankie's face.
He was thankful that the Slytherin couldn't see the smirk he was sporting while she slowly named off former Headmasters. But that expression was quickly removed from his face when the tables were turned on him. "Right. ... Former History of Magic professors. There's ... uhh ... Vinteren." He had heard his dad express his approval of that Board member. Was he done yet? Ugh. Time to eavesdrop on the others. "Then there is former Headmistress' husband. ... And Welton ... and ... Lord Borr ... and ... umm ... Oh! Kyro's dad. Scabior. He's a cool dude."
Basket number two was FINALLY his! Almost. They needed to cross the finish line before he could take his basket from Brooklyn. Or he could just knock her off and grab the basket mid-air. Tempting, oh so very tempting...
