Haaaaaahahaha. The moment he shouted space, Soph started laughing, and it intensified when he mentioned Pebbles AND used the term "sweet solstice." "That was the BEST. You've got him in the BAG. Mannerisms and all. I'd love for him to see you do that." They should go see both Culloden and Flamsteed after this and reenact their impressions. They'd be SOOOOO honored, wouldn't they? Hehehehe.

Accepting the card from him, Soph let out a low hum as she read the next question on the card. Hmm. There were a few immediate things that came to mind, but before she could give it too much thought, she was talking already. "I'm afraid of failing 'n not being the best 'cause people expect me to be the best at everything every day all the time 'n if I give an answer in class that's wrong or less than extraordinary people will probably fall over 'n die of shock 'n pigs will fly 'n that kind of pressure makes me not even want to go to classes a lot of the time but I do it anyway 'n make myself stop crying 'n drag myself out of bed 'n come to class anyway 'cause I'm Head Girl and m'supposed to try hard 'n be Ms. Hogwarts 'n be a good example 'n everything. There's no room for failure or less than extraordinary work from me 'cause I'll disappoint everyone who expects so much of me. I'll disappoint the professors 'n the young kids who look up to me 'n my friends 'n you 'n then you won't want me to be your girlfriend anymore 'cause m'not as incredible 'n perfect as you think I am 'n you'll stop loving me."

A forced smile firmly set upon her lips, but tears shining in her eyes, Soph extended the card over to him and proceeded to completely avoid eye contact.

Yeeeep. That just happened. And she was... probably not okay, but. Assignment. They had an assignment to fulfill. He would just... do his part, right? And casually ignore her overflow of emotions right now?

Zander made a horrified face at Ms Sophie Brown. "No way! He'd probably keep me in detention till the day I graduate if he saw that!" Zander was sure of it. It was all fun and games with Professor Flamsteed until you dishonored something that was dear to him. And he dishonored that startrek thing, pebbles the rock, and Astronomy all in one go. Professor Flamsteed could never see that. NOPE. And he was sure Culloden wouldn't be too pleased to see Sophie's impersonation either.

But anyways, it was time for the next question. And luckily Zander knew what he'd talk about: the impending fear of graduation and not knowing where to go in the future. But first it was Sophie Brown's turn so he gave her all of his attention. Undivided and everything. And Merlin, did she have a lot to say. And it was all pretty heavy. He didn't even realize how watery her eyes were getting until the end, where his grin from before had been replaced with a new look of ultimate concern.

What? Was she... okay?

Clearly not, so he didn't try to voice the stupidity. Instead, when she handed him the card.... He took one look down at it, and then impulsively ripped it in half. Errrrr... Maybe there was a better more thought out way to handle the situation. But Zander didn't have time for thinking. Sophie wasn't okay. And that wasn't okay. "Sophie, is that really what you're scared of? That you'll disappoint people?" he didn't give her much time to answer, however, because he needed to elaborate. "'Cause I guess I can't really speak for anyone else... But you won't ever disappoint me." He gave her arm a light squeeze.

"Let's just forget the assignment, okay? I think Botros will understand," Or well, he hoped the old man would understand... But seeing as the notecard was now split straight down the middle, it was sort of too late to turn back. "Being perfect all of the time is ridiculous, Soph. No one's perfect all the time and you're allowed to make mistakes too, y'know?" Actually, did she know? Probably not. "No one's gonna think any different of you if you skip a class, or land yourself a detention." He wasn't sure how much he was helping here, but um, he had already started so he had to finish somewhere. "Y'know, when I messed up really big in Fifth Year, I thought people would hate me and that I ruined everything for myself... But all I had to do was pick myself up again and start over, trying again. I guess what I mean is if we make mistakes, it's okay it happens. But the real mistake is not getting back up and trying again. 'Cause the only reason people would be disappointed is if you let yourself give up."

He had been looking at her the whole time. Taking a moment to pause before continuing. "But no one can expect you to be perfect every second of every day, that's too much pressure for a person to live with... And I'm sorry you've got so much pressure on you, Soph." He wrinkled his forehead a little, reaching for her hand. Merlin. What an assignment, right?
