Miss Sophie Brown wasn't here, but Miss Marsha Hanover was.
And he was very embarrassed. He wouldn't be able to apologise nearly enough for this mishap and probably the worst moment of her life, but he made plans in his head to make her lunch or at least share his next chocolate frog with her.
If she wasn't scarred by the colour of chocolate...
Oh, he'd gone and ruined everything.
The next noise from the kangaroo was once more pained, but very genuine of his feelings, and he tried to apologise to the Gryffindor with only his eyes to use, when he noticed the chameleon taking home near her foot. Hopefully Miss Marsha didn't tread on her or anything. Yikes, that could get messy. What would happen if they died as an animal? Professor Culloden had not gone over that fact with them, and their parents had not been informed of the liability of turning into some of these animals. Dying as a kangaroo was harder because Roo was quite large right now, much larger than he had been ten minutes ago as himself.
That was very strange, too. His new view of the world.
................ He was really craving some grass, though. Here grass grass. Heeere grassy grassy grass. Jet hadn't done much research on chameleons before she transformed into one, so she wasn't sure how the system of the colour change worked. She stood next to Marsha's shoe and closed the eye that was turned towards the kangaroo after double checking on him because of yet another noise he had made. Jet was learning to just ignore them because he actually made a lot of noise and they didn't really mean he was in pain.
Opening the eye that was facing the other girl's shoe, Jet studied the colour of it and wondered how she could turn into a colour that was relatively similar to that. Changing the colour of things - especially if the 'thing' was yourself - without the use of magic was nearly impossible in Jet's mind, but since the actual animal could do it, she reckoned she could do it, too.
Her first option was concentrating. She stared at the colour with her one open eye for several minutes as she mentally told herself to keep the other eye shut. A headache wouldn't help this process. After much staring, her next step was to picture herself turning that colour. She tried to use some Yoga technique to concentrate all her energy in her skin, but that proved to be more difficult than she imagined. Keeping one eye wide open to look at the colour and one eye shut so she wouldn't get a bad headache didn't allow her to use all of the concentration she probably needed for a colour change.
Surely there was some kind of gland that needed to be activated for this to work, but Jet didn't know which gland it was or how to make it work. After what felt like a full hour, she gave up. Jet was more than ready to be human back again and all of her focus now was going to be to avoid being pooped on by the kangaroo.
