So the professor was as new to Hogwarts as Ellery was? She couldn't tell if this was a good thing or a bad thing. MAYBE, just maybe, she could get away with more in this class…or maybe the teacher would be tougher with punishments?

Better just follow instructions for now. She finished scribbling her nametag (she had a LONG NAME, okay?) and affixed it to her shirt.
