They SHOULD take out the spiders, it was the sensible thing to do. "Distracting them is dumb, if we're distracting them they might kill us, and that won't do us any good if we die even if the others survive." Search and rescue were going to the forest, no? There was so much wrong with this scenario. Like the fact that it was HAPPENING to begin with. Why did people have to die so often at Hogwarts? Maybe he would have been better of at Durmstrang. Maybe.

But thinking wasn't going to save their skins this time round... action would. Zeke raised his wand and directed a bluebell flame toward the door too... anything was better than nothing he supposed. Especially when there were others out there that needed them too... kinda.

Everything was different. Not only was he facing death but Maggie was different to her usual self. She was more open, even caring. Of course this wasn't to say he thought that she wasn't, but she was always so thick-skinned and aloof, like nothing and nobody else mattered. He finished his work as she spoke again.

Zeke arched his eyebrows, waiting for Maggie to continue, instead what he got was a silly question. "I will, one day, but not today." He couldn't say this with any real certainty, but he wasn't about to admit defeat before the battle was fought. He might only be in his third year, but he wasn't going down to a bunch of glorified insects without a fight. "But if I did, at least you'd be off the hook for that favour you owe me." His attempt at humour wasn't his best, so he was quick to turn his attention back to the door and the bluebell flames.
