He really had been Gwen’s best friend all along. Jory really is the best…
As she looked back at the bookshop, Gwendolyn heard someone call her name. ‘Jory!’, she said tracking the source of the voice, eventually spotting her best friend. ‘H-hi’ Why was her voice trembling all of a sudden?! She started smiling as she saw the former Hufflepuff approach the bench. As Jory sat down, Gwendolyn hugged him. She shook her head, as to reply to his question about waiting for long. No, she had only just arrived a moment ago. Tired? Nope, just my face… ‘No, I’m fine, really’ She gave another smirk. Hmm- go home? No, there was no place she’d rather be. ‘Not at all, I’m glad you are here’, Gwen said with a genuine smile. ‘Did you have a good day?’ Was he alright?
Jory was all smiles. Was it just him or did the world suddenly become beautiful? He would go with it being beautiful because Gwen was around now. That was definitely the reason and as to why he was smiling so much. "Hey,'' he said again, reaching for her hug then hugging back. He might have held on a fraction longer before letting go. Why did it have to be over?
The Auror was wrapped up in his thoughts but not so much as to miss Gwen's slight stutter which he passed of as nothing to be bothered with. He thought she was stifling a yawn. Good to hear he hadn't kept her waiting. But even if he had, she would have said the same thing so he felt the need to explain. "Work. There's always something new cropping up.''
Okay, let's just say Jory was going to buy that or at least he wanted to because he didn't want Gwen to leave. He couldn't stand staying away from her and he really didn't want to go home because he'd have to face Ronnie. He couldn't bear to look at her now. He knew he was betraying her but he had felt different ever since his best friend came back. "I'm glad you aren't too tired.'' Jory smiled at the smirk and suddenly found himself wishing he could hold her close again. He shook his head. Get it together, Jory, he told himself. She doesn't like you that way. "It was reasonable. Not much to do until this afternoon. How about you? Any interesting patients today?'' Tell him everything because he just wanted to sit there and listen to you forever, Gwen. |
