Hmm… she started remembering the promise she made to Jory, not to let her career be the only thing in her life. Hmm… Jory.
She started smiling as she remembered their last meeting. It was so good to have seen her best friend again. After all this time he hadn’t changed that much…he was still just as nice, friendly and supportive. He really was the best… But to be honest, Gwen was having some trouble figuring out how she felt about his engagement to Ronnie… She should be happier for her best friend, no? Hmm.
Gwendolyn casually made her way along the crowded street, eventually stopping and taking a seat on one of the benches. She gave a quick look around to check if Jory was already there… Not yet.
After meeting Gwen the first time since her return, Jory had to sift through the fresh wave of emotions he was feeling. He knew it was wrong because he was engaged to Ronnie but he had finally come to terms with the fact that he had more than best friend feelings for Gwen.
So far, he had kept this to himself with the exception of Simon. The other Auror was his closest friend apart from Gwen and he couldn't exactly tell Gwen, could he? As for Ronnie... he didn't know how to go about breaking this to her. Lately he had just been distant with her as he tried to get his head on straight.
Even before he was close to the bench, Jory spotted Gwen. He quickened his pace. "Hi, Gwen,'' he greeted with a smile and took a seat next to her. "Did I keep you waiting long?'' Looking at her closely, he could tell she was tired. "Long day? Do you want to go home instead?" Her taking care of herself was much more important than hanging out with him. |
