Kate was just about to greet the professor and give him a hopeful line or two to cheer him up, when he suddenly began class. She'd have to skip the hello's for now and get right on what the lesson was about. She wasn't here two years ago, so she had no idea what they'd covered. She did know a little about poisons, though.

"There's Golpalott's Third Law," she said, raising her hand. "It's really, REALLY confusing, but it teaches us that the antidote to a poison needs to be equal to MORE than what the antidotes to each equal ingredient are." She lowered her hand then looked up at the professor with a really confused expression. "I think I said that the right way..."

Kate just knew that when dealing with poisons, you couldn't just look at each ingredients antidote. you had to find something that was bigger and better than all the antidotes combined. Confusing, it was.
