Maddie wanted many things for Thornton Baines but the most recent thing was for him to stop feeling sad. She could see it in his eyes, y'know? That's where people's emotions usually came out of hiding, even when you were doing your best not to feel anything at all. Knew from experience, she did. Luckily a smile followed shortly after and the brunette didn't have to go in for a hug, something she was used to but not entirely great at. At least not as great at it as her best friends.

"Can too just take it." The fifteen year old smiled, her tone matter-of fact. "In fact, I insist. Besides, it's mostly for selfish reasons. If your mum agreed to help me again this summer, that means I'll be around. Might as well try to get your sister to like me and I figure this is a good first step." Just saying.

Eyes trained on the spectrespecs, Maddie cracked a smile. "I think I'll get Benny spectrespecs, too. Mostly because I think it'll confuse him and picturing his expression makes me very happy."
