Teddy was watching as Adults and kids moved around the vicinity, chatting, yelling, getting to know each other.
And then there was someone there.

Teddy realised it was coming, the socialising bit. He was... 'nt ready, but he'd do it. This fellow gobstones player was Matt. "I'm Teddy," he said, introducing himself to Matt. "Um do... you... play gobstones at home?" Teddy asked, an improvised question. He hadn't prepared himself for getting to know other people without Ava being there to take most of the attention. No, it was a good challenge. After all, there was no guarantee he and Ava would be in the same house next year, and he'd have to make all his own friends. Or have none.
