A few moments' pause was enough to allow her to speak again. "If you don't take Arithmancy, do not worry about the reducing, the others have helped you out." She flicked her wand at the board, making the work and answer appear, along with the textbook's meaning.
Now came the fun part. "This number, which reduces to 8, has several meanings, the most commonly used of which are authority, success, and material wealth. Here's a thought exercise for you: if this number were to represent a place, what type of place would you guess? Creative answers accepted!" she said enthusiastically. He was correct! Of course he was correct! Ahem... yeah, totally normal for him. Not. He was pleased he started off the lesson on a good note, it could either get better, or just go downhill from here. He was hoping for better.
Already he was curious about this lesson. Well, the arithmancy portion of it at least. If the number was a place? What place would it be?
Authority? Success? Material wealth? ...........
....
But then there were all those OTHER things too. Mastery and fluidity and other things.
Hand up, Zeke voiced the most OBVIOUS conclusion that came to him. And by obvious, it was obvious to him. "Hogwarts, Professor. Cause you Professor's give us rules and there are consequences to breaking them, it's a place where we learn and become better at things and successful, we're in a super old castle with pretty portraits and shiny things..." not to mention the house point hour glasses held GEMS and STONES and things. So yeah. It was obvious to him. So so SO obvious.
