Yeah she heard his name and yes she saw what might have been something like a smile but neither could draw her attention away. Eventually she was leaning over the desk, possibly too close while she took in his spectacles.
"Wow.....you've got some big orbs, did'ja know that?" Blink. Blink. What big eyes he had!! Obviously meant he could see her better. How insulting would it be to start holding up fingers and asking him to count?
"I know a spell that'd do the same trick as those glasses...only it'd give you a migraine after a couple hours so I reckon you'd have to give it a break every now and then." Wand weighing? What was that? Lex was much too busy being captivating by the oddity that was the new guy. Curious thing he was. Shame he didn't say much, or smile much for that matter.
Needless to say, Lysander was appropriately alarmed as the unknown girl behind the desk quickly threw out all social constraints of normal distance between humans and leaned precariously into Lysander's personal space. And he liked his personal space. Almost in unison with her movement, the tall gawky young man took a calculated half step away from the desk, though not before she got a good look at his "orbs", as she put it.
Rather perturbed, Lysander's large caterpillar eyebrows furrowed in mild distaste as the girl wondered aloud if he was aware of the size of his own eyes.
"So I've been told," he responded sharply, the green eyes in question blinking in agitation behind the frames. As she suggested a spell that might provide him clear eyesight without the thick glasses, his jaw clenched in slight offense. He was irritated.
"Ah, yes, the occasional migraine so I might see your overly chipper welcome in the 20/20 diamond clarity I so desire," he spoke sarcastically, revealing his surprisingly deep voice with its even tone and cadence. He had yet to speak this much, and when he did the sentences arrived evenly and quickly, on the brink of being too fast to fully hear. He answered himself:
"Pass." He clearly didn't realize how rude this sounded, he just retorted as he thought. He towered slightly over her, always tall for his age, and looked at her truly. For the first time he scanned her face curiously, wondering who this girl actually was -- what gave her all of this energy and the gall to get so close to him before he learned her identity? She was obviously pretty, yet clearly lacked the common courtesy of observing personal space. Guess which one mattered more to Lysander?
"Do you have a name?"
