That's what Toby liked about this class; even just trying your best and making an attempt was a good thing, despite those times you were wrong. Which, y'know, Toby often was, because History of Magic was crazy difficult sometimes. He nodded in response to Glendower's smile. Illustrations. Got it.

Toby had a quick look at each of the examples as they round, but mostly he was listening out for the dreaded moment that Glendower would tell them they had to... illustrate their personal histories or something. The idea had him distracted, a little too distracted to really take in the sight of the manuscript examples, though he tried all the same. Some of them really DID capture his attention though, such as the especially brightly coloured one, mainly because it was pretty. The stuff about the carpet page was cool too.

Still no clue one what exactly they would be doing, but that was okay. Toby welcomed the opportunity to get up and out of his seat, as he'd already been getting quite restless. He couldn't remember exactly how much parchment he needed, so just grabbed a lot, as well as the decorative paper stuff a book cover, and a bunch of different coloured inks, including gold, before heading back to his seat.

As he set all his things carefully on the desk, he considered the question. Again, he had no idea, but this time he couldn't even drum up any sort of guess. Yeaaahhhh, uh... huh. There was a long pause, very long, before Toby stuck his hand up anyway and said, "'Cause people always see gold and silver stuff as extra important and stuff." Which was ridiculous, really. Something didn't have to have all that to be important, did it? Hufflepuff were a great example of that. They were the only house without a shiny colour in their house colours, but they were still just as important as the other houses. "Also it's shiny stuff, which is pretty to look at in a book." Even Toby had to admit it was cool to see gold lettering in books. If he ever saw something like it he always liked to take the time to have a good look.

But even non-shiny things were pretty too.
