Still trying to make that good first impression, though she had customarily offered such a formal greeting to all her new professors during her very first year. Thinking back on it, most of them got a kick out of an eleven-year old shaking their hand in greeting like an adult would. Botros in particular had seemed to enjoy it, and there mere memory of it brought a smile to Sophie's face.
Following the attention of Evie that had turned to the photographs, Soph gave a hum of acknowledgement, and wasn't the least bit surprised that Dakest only touched upon the topic briefly before turning the conversation back onto them. Aurors were tricky ones, full of suspicion and distrust - surely the man didn't care to have people know the details of his private life, especially his students.
"I'm actually writing the Professor of the Month and the Spell of the Week features, so... I can totally do that. Thank you for the idea, sir," she smiled, though... "When it comes out, y'might have a lotta kids coming to talk to you about patronuses 'n being frustrated that they can't get it 'n asking you for personal guidance. So... you'd have to be ready for that." But she'd do it, as long as she had his permission and he wouldn't mind being summoned to the practice room to help people along with their patronus charms.
Turning her gaze to Evie, Sophie wondered... yes, why the MLE? She'd never really thought to ask about what the appeal was there for her. Quote:

Family and close friends were in the pictures. Evie nodded. That's all she wanted to know. Cool.
Evangeline positively BEAMED when he congratulated her on her outstanding remarks and she did a little curtsy in response. But why the MLE? "'Cause I think it'd be cool to fight crime and lock people up in jail," she said, brushing cookie crumbs off her skirt. Yeah, that was pretty much it. That was as far as her career thought process went at that moment. Finishing her cookie, Evie's attention turned back to Sophie as she talked about patronuses. She herself was frustrated by producing one that didn't look like a cotton ball. So, one out of two non-nicknames then. Sabel shook Brown's hand, impressed with the formality that sharply contrasted the offering of baked goods. But they were Ravenclaws, and he held no question that there was a, or several, motives to their methods.
And they were true Ravenclaws, knowing better than asking further about the pictures. He appreciated it, really. Brownie points for them. Or cookie points. Speaking of which, he moved the platter into full reach of the two girls, after Shacklebolt made a mad grab for one. Unfortunately, house points could not be awarded for such a thing. Time, would have to be enough of a thanks.
A brief bit of laughter left him at Sophie's explanation of exactly what she was writing about. He quickly covered it with a hand, and forced his humor to settle. "I appreciate the confidence, but I don't think I would quite qualify for Professor of the Month." Still a newbie, still getting the hang of everything. Including having kids call him 'sir'. Merlin did it make him feel old.
Lowering his hand, he gave the young woman a knowing smile of his own. "It's what I have an office for, but you might be surprised how many kids come to you." She was, after all, a more approachable figure than a Professor, and if students were having as much trouble as it sounded like with their Patronuses.....
He trailed off in thought for a few moments, barely catching Shacklebolt's answer, and nearly missing restraint on the instant reaction of facepalming. Encouraging. He needed to be encouraging. It was darn well near impossible.
Letting out a huff of air, Sabel fixed the young girl with a serious look. "I'm going to be very blunt with you, because the MLE is not a place for fanciful notions. And that, is a very dangerous perception you have, Miss Shacklebolt. It's not fun, it's not cool." Unless she had been talking to one Alexa Cambridge. Circe help him if she had been. "Rewarding, at times," Maybe. Merlin even he sounded tired to his own ears. He wasn't going to baby them on the topic. Tate had skirted it, Damien had buffed it up. He'd find a middle, truthful ground. "But not without cost."
