Norah gave her crumpled parchment ball a little pat because just 'cause it was paper didn't mean it didn't deserve niceness, before raising her wand for the zillionth time. It was going to go up so high this time, she could FEEL IT. Narrowing her eyes and imagining the little ball going all the way up to the ceiling, she cast "Alarte Ascendare!" and brandished her wand. Even though she'd obviously believed in it all along, the fourth year gave a squeal of delight as the paper shot up above her head and fell down again, teetering at the edge of the desk. So it hadn't gone aaaalll the way up to the ceiling but it was better than last time.
She flicked the parchment ball back to the center of the desk and cast the spell again. "Alarte Ascendare!" It went hurtling up again until it was nearly halfway to the ceiling before slowing down and falling down again. Norah lunged forward to catch the ball before it hit the desk, effectively smashing her knee into the wooden leg but she did catch it without falling over so it really didn't matter. PROGRESS, she'd MADE IT. That totally counted. She didn't want to lose her parchment ball to all the cool stuff in outer space anyways.
