WHY was the moon important? Caleb didn't know, and didn't really care honestly. But this had to be going somewhere, and he had a feeling he was going to learn just how awful the world would be WITHOUT the moon. Although what Flamsteed said about the Moon being a perfect sphere and whatnot and wondering how it got like that...that was kind of interesting. Kind of.
Caleb raised his hand. "Doesn't the moon have some sort of influence on Earth's magnetic field? Or something like that?" he said. So if they didn't have the moon, that would be all messed up. Right?
