Really, he wasn't sure why he bothered half the time. He'd gotten better at speaking his mind full out, but there were still things he felt needed to be said. Perhaps that wasn't true. Perhaps he should just shut up and let idiots figure things out for themselves.

"So, why don't we talk about that? Why are you so sensitive about your chocolate and why do you hate children so much? Besides the fact that they are noisy, smelly, drooling spawns." No, he was talking about the 'break up the family' and 'don't touch things that are mine' reasons.

Too close to home, maybe? If so, she could do what she was so apparently good at and change the topic again.
