"I'll see if I can get the caretaker to give them a look. Maybe it has something to do with all this 'rejuvenating energy' you say you felt in the Spirit Room...." Or maybe these ghosts were just so bored with their afterlives that they had to meddle in the business of the living.
Now, if they would excuse her... Annie heard a small knock at the door. "That would be Professor Flamsteed and Mr. Hirase. Don't feel obliged to stick around, you two." She nodded toward the Bloody Baron and Helena Ravenclaw, and then stood up at her desk.
"It's possible that it is connected....." Helena trailed off with a shrug. Rejuvenating energy wasn't the word she wanted to use but it fitted she supposed. It was good that the caretaker would be looking into the matter of the staircase and that she could go do what she wanted.
The Baron didn't have such luck though and his displeasure was clear and visible as he left the room to see about some talking portrait getting moved. On her way out Helena stopped to whisper in Sir Nicholas ear that she'd be in the Tower Patch around midnight if he wanted company.
With a silent wave to Headmistress Truebridge the Grey Lady floated out of the office.
