She shook her head slowly again, half-amused and half-annoyed. Yeah, she was funny. A lot funnier BY INTENT than he was by accident. She narrowed her eyes at his latest comment. "She has no time to pity someone successful like me," the redhead fired back with a soft 'pffffffffft,' sound of disagreement. "We're friends, Foster, don't forget that." Funny how much they had used to hate each other, right?
Tori calmly raised an eyebrow at him. "Is that the sound of you agreeing with me?" Well, he hadn't said NO, he'd said 'uh huh.' See, she was getting a great idea here... and scooted her chair a bit closer to his so that their legs juuuuuuuust brushed. "Tell me why you're really here, Paulie, please---" pause to rap her hand on his knee and let it linger there just a bit longer than necessary, "---I INSIST!"
She could question his intelligence ALL she wanted; Paulie wasn't calling her that. "Ya knooow I like nicknames. But I'll pass on callin' ya Auntie Tori." Yes? Okay, yes.
"And as your friend, she must've noticed your articles gettin' bland, so she sent me to your rescue." There was an amused smirk that found its way onto his lips. Yeah, yeah. THAT was it. Had nothing to do with pulling a joke on Paulie here. Sweet, innocent Paulie. Maybe even sweet, innocent, angelic Paulie.
.....
The sound of him agreeing with her?! Were her ears DEAF to sarcasm? Paulie released a puff of breath. "Whaaat? No, I think that must be the sound of you bein' delusional." Completely. Leave it to a Daily Prophet journalist to twist your words around, pfft. But her actions that came next properly confused him, even burned his ears just a tad as he was so unready for them. "I'm here.." he began, as he shifted his leg away and ended up banging it into some area of her desk. "'Cause I thought we were gonna be talkin' 'bout the music festival!"
