He'd already started adding basic things to his notes, too...when....Dima...asked that. Writing ceased and Gabe looked at both younger boys, blinking owlishly. Was it not clear by the similar looks and matching last names? Uh....... "This......" Mad flushing, cause that's what Gabes did best. "....is my sister. Ruby."

Arithmancy classroom Arithmancy Lesson 1: What's in a Name? Does marriage and taking another name change ones numbers? "The prevailing choice of ancient Arithmancers, and therefore of your textbook, is to use your birth name for all calculations throughout your lifetime."
"Because name changes tend to correspond with big life changes or decisions, the new school of thought holds that your personality, values, habits, et cetera are impacted to an extent that would make calculations with your new name entirely appropriate."
"The view put forth by the rest of you is somewhere in the middle, using both calculations to gain a better picture of how the name-changing event affects your life. No one has yet, to my knowledge, come up with a mathematical rule for combining calculations with both names." All statements by Professor Tanner Class Exercise: Gryffindors: Hermione Jean Granger
Hufflepuffs: Hermione Jean Weasley Ravenclaws: Ginevra Molly Weasley
Slytherins: Ginevra Molly Potter

According to the book (as related by Dima Toussaint), the number NINE as an Expression number reads: Your mission in life is to perfect and love unconditionally. Your purpose is to strive for universal brother-/sisterhood, using your humanitarianism, responsiveness, and healing art. Learning to transform and heal and being receptive and forbearing will bring you closer to your destiny. You're destined for broad horizons. Reach out and help someone.
When she changed her last name, her number changed, as well. The number FOUR as an Expression number reads (as related by Dante Barrington): Your mission in life is to build something of lasting value. Your purpose is to be realistic and hard-working, all while keeping order and decorum so that security is assured. Learning to express traditional values and being loyal and constant will move you toward your destiny. You're destined for managing and methodizing. Create the foundation and build on it.
Hand finally pausing over the parchment, Gabe regarded the words.
...and he was STILL blushing a little. "Perhaps her views....changed after she married. She decided she.....wanted different things in life....." The words were a bit rushed and sometimes quiet. He glanced to his sister. Did Ruby have anything to add? Did Dima and Dante....have anything else? Quote:

Dima's cheeks flushed until they were a brighter shade of red than the ripest tomato in Groundskeeper Millard's vegetable patch. SISTER? "I'm... sorry..." Er. The thirteen year old cleared his throat awkwardly, then immediately followed up his choppy apology with, "I think I dropped my quill." Obviously, NO ONE had noticed he hadn't been holding one in the first place, yes? Crawling under the table, Dima sat there for a while until his face cooled down. And then slooowly resurfaced. "Got it." Still no quill to be seen, but WHO CARED? Ginny Weasley's hair and his skin were no longer the same hue. All good.
Speaking of Ginny... uh... what was going on with that? He would have tried to contribute again, but the smartest decision at this point seemed to be NOT talking. Quote:

Apparently her brother wasn't going for any public snogging sessions in the Ravenclaw common room. She shot him a speculative look and then hid a smile.
... lulz. Gabriel and PDA. Hilar. "... but its SUPER nice to meet you, Dima." And she knew who Dante Barrington was already ok thanks. Hopefully he'd grow up to be less problematic than his brother.
But now they were talking about things. Ruby didn't glance at the textbook at all since that would be pointless, she just listened to what the boys were saying. THANKFULLY they were reading out the meanings without her having to trick them into it. Totally useful. "It would be useful to work out what those two meanings have in common to start with don't you boys think?" She looked at Gabe. "I think... both of those sound like there's an underlying connection of... like, loyalty.... number nine through unconditional love, and number four through traditional loyalty, and the ambition to build something lasting... soooo maybe the connecting element there could be... family? And like.... being there for people. For number nine, she had to find love and help her famous hubby like... mentally heal and everything after defeating that scumbag Voldemort, and then once she found it and got married, then it was about building the foundation for a family, which she did, obvy." Just seemed like they flowed into each other pretty good right? Just a thought anyway. Why was Dima's and Gabriel's faces going red in this group right now? It was just a question and Gabriel and Ruby answered it. "Okay, Brother and Sister" Perfect. Now they could get on with the work and such. Dante thought looking between Dima and Gabriel. Though not so much Dima since he slide under his seat looking for a quill or something.
Shrug.
Maybe he did lose his quill. Who knows. Dante will give him the benefit of the doubt. Whatever that means. And see he found it. Dante listened to Ruby and liked that answer. It made sense to him at least. "Yeah it sounds like the thing that links the two is loyalty. Either through love or hard work."
That was all he got. So...yeah let's just go with Ruby's answer. Sounds good to him
