Sophie was here on important business. Aaaaaand also maybe to see if Flamsteed was going to murder her or give her detention from events at the feast last term, even though the man didn't know for CERTAIN that she had done anything - still, she preferred that she see him here and now in the morning on their first day back before she had a lesson with him so they could get any awkwardness out of the way.
Mostly so he wouldn't reprimand her in front of the entire class or glare at her or express inevitable disappointment in her even if he didn't mean to do so in front of everyone.
Approaching the office door, Soph listened first to see if she could hear voices inside - she couldn't hear much of anything, so she took a deep breath, knocked calmly on the door, and offered up in case he could hear her, "It's Sophie Brown, professor." So he could mentally prepare himself and there would be no surprises when he opened the door and his whole demeanor wouldn't dampen at the sight of her. Eh hem.
She'd planned this meeting very well, clearly.
