It made Dot SMILE.

"She's a fiiiiiiighter, this Sophie of mine," Dot sang a new song on the spot, picking up each of Sophie's hands and letting them fall limply back to the desk. "She's gonna live, 'cause I beliiiiiiiiiiieve in her." Now the hands were being pulled over Dot's shoulders like the sleeve of an empty sweater. LOOK THEY WERE HUGGING.

"Secrets. Okay. We're best friends, you and me. And I'm going to make you an antidote RIGHT NOW, okay? And also, the third thing is that I don't want you to fix me 'cause this is the best I ever felt in my whole life and why wouldn't I want to be happy forever and ever if I could be? I used to be sad, 'cause Dima is mad at me and I can't get Maddie to like me back and my parents threw me away, but NOW I AM SO HAPPY. So, I'll fix you okay? I think you something we in the medical profession call 'Broken Sophie Syndrome.'"

...What?

Her mental and emotional state unaffected by the poison, Sophie felt BETTER in those ways when Dot was cuddling her and trying to make her feel better, UNTIL the girl said some very concerning things. Things... that... if Dot knew she was saying, she would probably be very embarrassed, wouldn't she? Guh. Soph briefly debated on whether to pretend like she hadn't heard those things at all or if she should coddle the poor child. But the last bit of what Dot said made her laugh again, though she still felt too weak to properly hug the girl back. No... she would stay just like this - limp in the chair - for as long as she could. Needed to save her energy for... the brewing of SOME kind of antidote, whether she would actually give it to Dot or not.

But right now, she was leaning toward not.

"I have to brew one for a grade, but..." She lowered her voice so only the Dot in her lap could hear her, "What if... at the end of class, after Culloden checks it out, you just don't drink it? You can pretend, then leave class and keep feeling like this. But I do need you to brew a proper one for me, though, please, 'cause... we don't want me to die like this, y'know? I need a strength potion." Nothing wrong with diagnosing herself, yeah? "I have... a whole page of notes on it for you, if y'wanna use 'em, with really super detailed stuff - we made it last term, so I wrote down everything important along the way. S'better than textbook stuff."

Weakly and grunting a litle, she lifted her arm, letting it rest on the table as she slowly flipped through her notebook till she got to the page that was labeled Strength Potion. "I have good handwriting. Should be good."
