"Since I was nine." So not as long as he'd been messing around with his art supplies, but close enough. "I can play the harmonica too, but not as fun as the ukulele cause ya can't sing at the same time." And sometimes Paris would get really into his playing and sing along to his favorite songs. Hard to do with the instrument in your mouth. "How long ya been playing the cello?"
Thornton laughed, and began adding the outlines for his birds to the paper.
"Most times, yes," he said.
"But sometime art lessons were art history lessons and that was mostly Father having someone come in to talk about a particular piece." He shrugged. He hadn't cared for it much, but his parents had insisted that he have a well-rounded, cultured background. Father insisted it would serve him well, but this year, well, Thornton had come to think it just made him odd.
Thornton narrowed his eyes as the outline of the phoenix took shape, the tiniest bit of his tongue sticking out the side of his mouth as he concentrated. Setting down his supplies, he looked back to Paris.
"About 3 years, properly," he said, considering.
"Mother was a concert cellist for a time, so before I started my own lessons, she would let me, help her play." Thornton smiled at the memory.
