"I wouldn't be surprised by anything like that at this point with him," Soph grinned over at Tobes, briefly looking out over the large number of people before them to see if she could spot Flamsteed anywhere - what activity would HE have wanted to go see first, hm? Certainly he was like a kid in a candy store at a place like this and he would take part in the various events, too. Maybe they'd run into him later. That'd be loads of fun, wouldn't it? Getting to see him geek out maybe even more than usual?
Her attendant took a little longer to get Soph's harness on and get her all set up than Toby's attendant had so she started her climb about ten seconds after Tobes, but she took the challenge upon her to hurry and gain some ground on him. Nimble and swift, Soph navigated her way up the ladder, her movements fluid and her gaze shifting over to Tobes next to her every now and then, a big grin on her face the whole time. Soon enough she had reached his height on her own ladder and slowed her pace so that they both reached the top at the same time - or mostly, for she made sure her hand reached the topmost rung before his by like half a second. Hehehehehe.
She opened her mouth to say something, but their attendants were giving them instructions, so Soph listened, and as the woman played around with the weights for her harness system, she gave Tobes a thumbs up. THEY WERE ALMOST WEIGHTLESS. When the woman gave them the go-ahead, she peeked back down toward the ground where they were being told what to do and, slooowly but surely, Soph let her feet hang off the ladder rung and "weightlessly" made her way down the ladder.
"Tooooooooooooobes," she giggled, peeking over at him as it was like she was FLOATING and GRAVITY COULDN'T HOLD HER DOWN. "This is so weeee-he-heeeird." Lots of laughter. Lots of FUN. Up and down the rungs she went, testing out how super easy it was to go from the bottom to the top, sharing delighted grins with Tobes as she did so.
Tobias had been vaguely aware of Soph racing up her ladder out the corner of his eye, but he kept on up his in the same pace. A few weeks (or maybe months?) back, he might had attempted to race her up to the top, but today he was quite content with merely focusing his efforts on scaling the tall structure.
He clung onto that top rung and looked down at the muggle attendant, listening to her explain the process of what was now going to happen, with the whole balancing out his weight thing. As she spoke, and he nodded, Toby's foot jiggled on the rung below. Eventually, he felt a shift in his weight as he moved and the harness held him up, and knew at once that he was now 'weightless'.
Without so much as a tentative check to see how it felt, Toby just went right ahead and pushed his legs off from the big yellow frame, so he was horizontally dangling in the air.
"This is pretty neat," the Hufflepuff remarked, wasting no time in 'climbing' his way back down towards the floor using only his hands, as though he were on some form of vertical monkey bars. Soph seemed to really be having fun with this, and Toby
did think it was cool too (though he couldn't help but silently compare it to the thrill of riding on a fast broom) so he grinned right back over at her and pulled his way back to the top again. Once up there, Toby sort of pulled himself up and down between just two or three rungs, preferring to be way up and as far away from the floor as possible, to heighten the experience (no pun intended).
While doing this up at the top of the ladder, Toby's gaze drifted so he was briefly looking around at the rest of the room. No Hogwarts related disasters yet; that was good.
