There had been a bit of a fight getting Jemma ready to go that morning, especially since she’d found out that she not only wasn’t going to get to go see her daddy again that morning but couldn’t bring the toy bow and arrows he’d gotten her with her to the day care center at the Ministry. Instead, Amethyst had let her bring the Parker-bear, and that had appeased her two-year-old long enough to get her situated at the day care and allow Amethyst to make her way to Level One. Luckily, she didn’t appear to be late. She wasn’t about to make excuses on her first day, after all, just because of a tantrum. That was over and now she was here. Now it was time to shed her mother self and access her professional self. She still was slightly worried that it would have been difficult getting that back, especially given the difference in expectations from the last time she’d worked.

Seeing Lara sitting over near a man she could only assume was Mr. Isaacs, verified as she’d heard another man refer to him as Mr. Undersecretary, she’d given the girl a smile. They hadn’t been able to do any exploring as of yet, but at least they’d both made it to the office without too much trouble. Going over to the coffee cart, she poured herself a cup quietly before she dealt with any other greetings. Not to mention introductions. She hadn’t thought her choices at the orientation had been ill-advised, yet it was becoming even clearer now that she hardly knew anyone. “Good morning,” she said simply, the still-rather-new hint of a Scottish lilt present in her voice. She wouldn’t bother to say much more unless it was asked of her, for now. Instead, she sipped the coffee in her hands. There must have been more people yet to arrive anyhow. She doubted there were only five employees working on this level.
