But anyway, onto what she was discussing with Tanner. "So, flying. We simply can't have it, can't have you teaching it, can't even USE that word without fear of the person who made that threat hearing about it." She nodded and waited for Tanner to catch up on their walk across the pitch. There was a broomshed at the other end here, yes?
"My idea for you is... why not teach about transportation in general? There are many things our students don't know about brooms, broom care and service, broom models... floo powder, apparition, magic carpets... that Ministry symposium on carpets has inspired me, you could say!" What DID Tanner have to say about that? Bunz peeked at her somewhat hopefully.
Tiara followed Anastasia hopefully. Maybe if she could just say the right thing, she'd be able to persuade the Headmistress..? The fresh air and dew-laden grass on the pitch raised her spirits somewhat. She would give it her best for the athletes and let the chips fall where they may.
Or not.
Tiara stopped walking out of shock. "
Can't even use the word? Surely that's a bit harsh, don't you think?" The lame attempt at a joke was born out of her frozen mind. Not only was Anastasia dead set against bringing back the most popular form of Wizarding recreation, she was absolutely unwilling to discuss it! Plus she wanted her to teach about things many students either learned at home or from their friends, topics there was zero curriculum about, no less. That was not what she had in mind at all for this year at Hogwarts.
She cleared her throat and attempted to compose her thoughts, though it did little good. "
You seem to be forgetting my background, Headmistress. I know little of Wizarding transportation outside of the care and service of broomsticks. I am a Muggleborn, after all. I simply cannot see how I would be qualified to teach on such matters." Not that too many students would even be interested in said classes. "
And from a logistics standpoint, I'm not sure how you expect to just add in classes to students' schedules weeks into the term."
She gritted her teeth. She had to at least
try to bring her around. "
What if we focused more on the fitness and recreational side of flying? My understanding was that the threat came from someone who was upset that sports were replacing academics. What is flying was just one component of a curriculum that emphasized physical and mental well being?" Like physical education classes she'd had in her Muggle education.
