He hadn't even thought of walking away with the blanket until the man had told him to leave the office. He had just wanted to trade , blanket for the hat...

But that was last year and he got his blanket back right? So why all the fuss about giving his hat back?! Kevin thought it was all unfair and slightly confusing that was until the speech came. Unconciously, the Gryffindor sat more upright as he listened and he didn't even look at the Head of House. Instead, he was looking at his lap and frowning now and then. And when he was finished he still didn't look up.

"Bentley said the same thing. That i have potential to do something great. That i have leader qualities or something...well that was more because she saw me ordering Zander around but he listens to everyone so" he rolled his eyes. "But..."he sighed heavily. His whole aura seemed to change and for the first ...no not for the first time ever, Zander had seen him lost before... but for the second time he didn't act all defiant and didn't make any sarcastic comments back. "But i don't know how to *change*" he spoke after a moment of silence and he looked up now. "I tried, even if it was fake but i tried and people still judge me .. or dont believe me, you think i actually like being rude?" He laughed sarcastically. "I don't okay? It's just my way of surviving" he said. And in case anyone wondered, no he wasn't crying but it was visible on his face that he tried to keep a tough look.

Stupid talk. He wanted to leave...

Oh course Seren had. They had discussed Mr. Hirase more than once while the woman was still at Hogwarts. She was much better at dealing with this sort of thing. MUCH.

"Professor Bentley was right," he began. The astronomer then took a deeeeeeeep breath, held it, and exhaled before speaking more. The sudden change in posture of the third year was a welcomed surprise. "I believe, Mr. Hirase, you have just taken the first step," he replied calmly while he continued to search for words to follow up with. Yeah...he had nothing. "Letting yourself be vulnerable just now. People find that appealing. I never said it would be easy, and self evaluation if often the most difficult thing to stomach. But being rude as a defense mechanism? That is precisely the reason why people do not, and will not take you seriously." Airey had used humor and the methodology that one had to laugh at yourself first before others could laugh at you as a defense mechanism for himself as a youngster, so he sort of understood.

"Your wording and the way you speak about yourself right now, Mr. Hirase, implies that while you wear the tough guy with an abundance of confidence, that you do not entirely believe it yourself. Even going so far as to say that Mr. Adair listens to you only because he listens to everyone. I have observed a closeness with the two of you that is clearly not one out of obligation. I suggest you don't take him for granted and try to look at yourself through Mr. Adair's eyes. In fact, that may be a good place to start in general. Try to see how you are perceived through the eyes of those you interact with." He paused for a moment and relaxed into his seat some more. Oh boy, here come the flood gates. "Let's try this exercise now, shall we? Try me. How do you think I perceive you, Mr. Hirase? Try to take a moment, perhaps count to 10, before you answer. Really try to reflect."
SPOILER!!: Alexa! /end scene!

But there was no proof in knocking a piece of wood warding off the misfortunes in the world. "Much too late for that now in any case." It was interesting just what people could come up. "And this...is a muggle thing, yeah?" Surely wizards would have better ideas when it came to not jinxing themselves.

The fact Airey didn't have anything else to say on the matter was about as much go ahead as she needed. Him handing her the slip was like pushing the green button...repeatedly. Lex eagerly pulled the parchment to her, the wide grin back on her face. "You insult me, Professor." No displacing the grin though. "I've never been known to hit books that have a tendency to hit back." Nah. That was simply unwise.

This time she took a gulp of her hot chocolate that had by now with the help of several marshmallows become somewhat closer to room temperature. A few more gulps and she was done. "Thanks again Professor. Now if you'll excuse me I have a dream to make come true." Lex pushed away from the table and pulled a handful of marshmallows from the bag, you know, some for the road. "Have a good one."

Did he want to know? Maybe just a little, but he wasn't going to ask regardless. "It is indeed. Not entirely sure of the origin of it, but perhaps you can find that answer while you are in the library?" He wasn't entirely serious with the request, but if she did so happen to stumble upon the answer then hurrah!

And with light speed movements, the permission slip was out of his hand and Miss Cambridge heading towards the door - with a fist full of marshmallows. "You go out there and live your dream, Miss Cambridge," he waved to her departing figure.

Sweet solstice the Restricted Section had no idea what was coming.
