Because I'm not sure if the mist I saw earlier was the real thing, or just my imagination." Maybe he was getting sleepy that's why he was imagining things?

"Oh...and I hope you don't mind me calling her Zelda, professor." he said as he pointed at the innocent looking crystal ball. Getting to a personal level with one's crystal ball should help, yeah?

Merlin's beard. He'd do anything just to get his sphere to work!

...

And then there was Professor Cassie screamingtelling Zahra to lay her hands off of her crystal ball. And...5 points from Gryffindor. Ethan glanced around to get that look for Beverly.

Now...can she see what he meant about letting Zahra do her thing?

"Now that is a fantastic question. Crystal balls of course are not living. They do not have a heart that beats, a brain, nor anything like that, but they are a magical object. So our mind and connection with them brings them into a living type of state." She gave Ethan a encouraging smile. "You're doing wonderfully Ethan, do not give up. If you saw mist then it was most certainly real. " She snapped happily that he saw it. That was exciting news annnnd he was naming his crystal ball. "Ethan that is very good to name and get so connected with your ball. You will be seeing images in no time."

SHE HADN'T TOUCHED THE BALL SINCE THE PROFESSOR TOLD HER NOT TO THE FIRST TIME. She'd used her sleeves! It wasn't her fault her ball was probably a gazillion years old and faulty! Zahra had been trying!

....she was a little devastated.

Zahra knew better than to argue, so she just took it (and all the looks from her classmates, too) but she was pretty upset. She put her head down to wait out the rest of class.
Well she just felt horrible. Cassie was never a mean one nor had she ever taken points from a child and the thought of taking them had bothered her let alone doing them, but when she saw her precious balls being shaken she just had to do something. It was like someone else took over with instincts. Seeing the child put her head down just devastated the blonde and she didn't like it at all. Leaning down closer to her she tried to smile encouraging. "Zahra I'm so sorry for being so harsh and loud. That was not right of me at all, but when I ask to not touch the Crystal Balls that means shaking them as well. I do not want them damaged. You are such a bright girl and do such amazing thing. I saw that in class last term. I know you could do scrying if you just put your mind too it. " She knew that wouldn't make things better most likely, but she kind of thought that maybe something later in class would.

Because then they would have even MORE thoughts to think about. Couldn't they just go back to making cards for each other because that stuff was easy! Even if the arts and crafts thing wasn't really his thing it was a lot better than hopelessly staring into a crystal ball that didn't give you answers.

"Okay Professor," he hung his head sadly. But he wasn't going to cry because APPARENTLY that's not what scrying is about. HMPH.

Instead, he just stared into the crystal ball, trying to will it to say something, anything. Why wasn't this thing working? And how was he supposed to clear his mind of thoughts? Isn't that what minds were supposed to do? Have thoughts? It's practically a law.
Giving Zander a little pat on the shoulder and a few quiet snaps, she knew he would try his hardest and she didn't want to bother him as he did.

There was the image of a piece of parchment--she didn't try to linger on what the heck that could mean, though, or else she might not see anything else! The parchment drifted away--and she could see the image of a black dog--on closer inspection, RODDY! Her dog! She grinned at the sight--she sure did miss him! She hoped he was all right. Her dog had been perfectly fine when she had left for Hogwarts. By the time, though, that she was paying attention to her crystal ball again, it was clear...no images anymore. She rubbed her forehead and siiiighed. She wanted to see more, gosh darn it! Maybe she would talk to the professor after class?

And now her head was throbbing. "Professor?" she raised her hand and spoke so sooooftly. "Is it normal to get a headache?" she asked, hoping it WAS because if not--well she didn't even KNOW. It's not like she would go all the way to the hospital wing for a mere headache. She would just have to stick it out, yeah?
Looking to a young Ravenclaw Cassie walked over, "Oh yes it can be very normal. Especially at the beginning and in very advance readings were a voice starts to talk through you." She had that happen once or twice, but it wasn't something she fully remembered in the reading state.

The little charlatan remained seated and looked away from Morgan to whom he had looked as he spoke and refocused on his crystal ball. "Booht, I don't see anything. Joost a bunch of trees. With mad root systems." He paused as he shut his eyes.

"And the alchemical symbol for copper." He concluded exhaustedly before putting his head down onto the surface of the desk. Meanwhile, a silent sigh of relief washed over the land as it was realized that the boy had no puking pastille upon his person that day.
Oh no someone was feeling sick? She wondered if it would happen. "Drink some peppermint tea dear. It will pass. You are going in and out of concious state too much and your body is feeling a bit motion sick." Very common, but something they would have to work past. She continued listening. Had Cutty seen all of that? "Well please keep trying to stay in that state and once out of it write it all down so you can figure out what it means. It is exhausting but you are doing fabtastic!!" She was grinning from ear to ear proud of him.

Shaking his hands and his head at the same to clear out his head.

time to give this another time" he thought as he did the same breathing exercise and then let his mind go blank.. peeking open an eye he looked at the ball.. he was sure he was seeing a book… well he thought he did.. but he was pretty sure he was looking at one.. He wondered what a book meant if thats what he was seeing. Taking out his quill he wrote down the image of a book because he might as well document it.
"You will do great I know you will." She gave Victor some snaps and let him get back to work.

Biting her lip, she raised her hand. Professor Cassie would be able to help her.
Seeing someone else put their hand up she looked at her watch. They still had a bit of time left. Moving closer to Lux, "Something wrong?" She hoped not, but it seemed like the most possible question.

Looking at the rest of the class she smiled the best she could even though she felt like she had totally failed them all this lesson. It was the first she had ever felt so bad. "Class we have about five minutes left so finish up on your scrying, if you are finished please take this time to reflect on how it went, if you saw anything write it down. If you are still working, please try to focus. The rest stay quiet until the end so others can keep working." Now where was Pips?
