♥ Gryffindor ♥ ★ Ravenclaw ★ "Cool!" Sapphire thought at the mention of wands. This would be her first time actually using it to do magic! Even if it was one without an incantation, and Sapphire supposed, one that was probably impossible to get wrong.
She took out her wand - 14 inches, Rowan Wood, Dragon Heartstring, Unbending - and focused on the odd-looking name tag that appeared on her desk. "Sapphire Wulfweardsweorth," she said clearly, hoping Professor Flamsteed and the other students had heard. Her last name wasn't the easiest to read, especially when not heard first.
Her name appeared perfectly-spelt on the name tag - which she honestly felt quite surprised about. She pinned it on her robes as instructed and thought about the professor's question.
She raised her hand quickly, "Professor, I've always thought of Astronomy as the study of the stars and planets, anything in the universe. I think...well, people - both Muggle and Wizard - have been fascinated by the universe probably since time began. Even believed that our destinies are written on it."
Sapphire paused, a little unsure about her next statement. "Unlike Muggles however, I think we can actually interpret what we see. And use it." And be the first to know if a particularly dangerous meteorite was to enter the Earth's atmosphere. Wizards would save the whole world with some really cool magic!
