Maddie really didn't know how to comfort Kyroh. All she could do was think of any and all comic books that involved bugs and how being one too might not be a bad thing. But then Kyroh WASN'T a bug, not even close. And his name wasn't bug-like either. His name was special because it was different and HE was different. She couldn't explain ANY of this, though. Instead she simply whispered, "I like your name best." Much more than her own. Now please smile, Freckles. This is meant to be a party. Granted, not a SHIRTLESS one but Kitridge was working on THAT part.
But LOOK, there was his shirt! Peeves had it and the brunette wrinkled her nose at the sight of him. He'd called them BABIES and sprinkled flour on their heads last time she'd seen him. NOT a fan of him, NOPE. Couldn't that lady doing the mattress surfing get RID of him somehow? Or maybe the key was to ignore him. He seemed to like getting a rise out of people so maybe if they didn't let him, he would go find some place else to haunt. Maybe.
Ducking the flying beverage as best she could, the twelve year old glanced at Kyroh and Penelope with wide eyes. "Don't give him the satisfaction of you weeping, okay?" This was to Kyroh. It'd only fuel his fire. Besides, didn't the finders keepers rule depend on where you found an item? Maybe Peeves had illegally seized it. Maybe Peeves hadn't followed the rules and he HAD to give it back. Maybe...she should volunteer to fly and pull the thing RIGHT off Peeves so Kyroh could be shirtless no more.
...Maybe she could convince Penelope to do that instead.
