Drat. His prank had almost been foiled by that person but Adi had remembered AJ telling him that someone had warned her that first time they met. "I'm not that old,'' he replied with a wink. But yes, that suggestion was fine by him. ''I can agree to that.'' In his eyes, she was the most awesome and coolest girl, anyway.
"You can never hurt me,'' Adi said laughing. "Only if you had broken my Puffer heart or you do so in the future. But I'm a super tough guy. Like Superman. Or Batman. Or Iron Man. You'll be the one getting hurt if you punch any harder.'' Hehe. Adi didn't know what was going on in that head of AJ's but if he did, he would have laughed and said, "Typical AJ. Always the one to bury me in questions.'' A mention of Ian. He froze a bit as something came back to him. "On the night of the Feast, when I was explaining that he needed to apologise to you, I was sort of encouraging him to ask you out too.'' Because at that time he'd been sure that AJ just wanted to be his friend. "Now why do you ask that?'' Adi asked. He just knew it. AJ thought he went around kissing girls after the incident at Sugarplums.
"I know. And I remember. I just thought you were confused back then because I'd just helped you out of the Lake and all.'' Yep, the boy had sure it was just a crush back then and would only last for a few days or something. "But it didn't work for you,'' he added with a grin. "Bet you like me more now.'' He deserved that poke. LOL. "I don't know. I didn't mean to. I mean you giving me mixed signals and I guess I got all sulky and wanted a little revenge.''
"I know you can't resist, anyway. It's the hair, isn't it?'' AJ had sole rights over his hair ever since they met and she always would. "I don't intend to ever stop.'' That was true.
There was that wink. It made her swoon every time he did it even if it didn't show.
"Older than me. Better?" That was what she really meant, but it was always fun to get that extra jab in there. Look at them compromising and agreeing already.
"This is why we work." End of story. Point blank.
"You sure about that? I'm probably the toughest girl in alllll of Hogwarts." Even the older ones. AJ was one confident little lion.
"You're like Batman since he is the coolest superhero there is." There would be no puff heartbreaking over here.
"I will never break your heart." She couldn't imagine ever wanting to be with anybody else either so that wouldn't be something that they would have to worry about. Her heart was completely in his hands, and she hoped that he felt the same way. At his confession about Ian, she just froze.
"Why would you do that?" What sense did that make?
"You would try to get somebody to ask me out after they tried to hex me?" WHY?
"If you like me then why would you want another guy to ask me out?" She needed an explanation please.
"You know, IF he would have went about things the right way I most likely would have given him a chance." Only because she figured that AJ and Adi would never be more than friends. Was Adi trying to avoid her kissing question?
"Not trying to avoid giving me a number are you?" Wasn't it obvious?
"I just figured you would have kissed other girls before me." Adi was a cool older dude. Some things you just figured happened.
"And because you didn't like me in that way then." Let's just be honest here.
"It was a crush at first, but I realized over time that it was much more than that." He was right.
"I do like you even more now even after knowing you tried to set me up with a psycho." She wouldn't be forgetting that little part though.
"You are so not fair. You started all of the mixed signals." He got another poke for that. Knowingly driving her crazy!
"It's totally the hair." As if on cue, AJ reached up and gave it a good ruffle.
"Who could resist it?" The answer to that better be EVERYBODY, because Adi was hers!
"I can live with that." The pair would never stop flirting. One fun relationship coming right up.
"Much better. It would be cool if we could just stay young forever.'' How awesome would that be?
"When I agree with you?'' Adi teased.
"Is that the only time?'' "Oh not probably. I'm sure you are. I don't even want to think about how powerful a swing you've got with a baseball bat.'' Speaking of bats...
"You'd make a great beater for the Quidditch team.'' Did she even ever play the game?
"Batman I am. Does that make you Batgirl?'' Adi looked at AJ and shook his head. So innocent, was she not? She might not feel the same way about him in a few years time. But he remained silent. No need to upset her again. They'd just see where this went. He just listened to all her questions. He knew she would react like that. But when she said she would have given Ian a chance, he spoke up.
"Exactly. I knew that you would. It's because of what happened on the Train. You kissed me and when I kissed you, you went all weird. Figured you wanted us to be friends for life.'' There. That was his explanation.
"Nope. Not avoiding it. Just wondering why you thought I made out with other girls. Let's see...one, two, three,'' the Puffer began holding up his fingers of his free hand as he began counting. He was pulling AJ's leg, of course.
"I'm just kidding. I've only kissed Sophie from Slytherin but on her cheek. So, you have the honour of being the first girl that got a taste of these lips.''
Adi had to laugh at the psycho part.
"I'm sorry about that. And yeah. I just thought of you as a friend back then. Remember when we were going home last term? On the Train I said I had a headache? Well, I really did. It was from trying to figure out everything that I was feeling for you.'' Did he start the mix signal thing? He couldn't remember.
"Well, you continued with it,'' Adi added, poking AJ right back.
Hair tussled by the wind and AJ. His hair was totally a mess, he was sure. Not that he minded. AJ like it that way.
"Not you for sure.'' That was pretty obvious.
