He waited for the headmistress' speech because he was ready to go hide. He thought about trying to slip out and run away, but that wasn't an option since he didn't know how he'd get back in the common room once he was done. On top of that, he and Adi would be in the same room, like they had been for 3 years before. How was that going to work out? Ian just really didn't know. He decided to go ahead and lay his head on the table, wait for the speech and food(though he wasn't hungry now) and then go find a hole in the hufflepuff common room to curl up in.
